Neil at Oxford

Created by Denis 7 years ago
Taken at Oxford University after recording the Villa Lobos trio with Peter Fisher and various wind quintets. We had many wonderful years making music at Rugby School 1948/51 and later at Oxford 1953/56 and later in various other musical events until recently. Your wonderful playing over the years was something at which to listen with the greatest pleasure, which you have given to many millions over the years of your professional career.

Your friendship will never be forgotten, nor the great pleasure of your company, always cheerful and more interested in others than yourself. It never seemed as if you wanted to be a soloist in front of the orchestra, but once started you never looked back, for which we are eternally grateful.

You fought an impossible battle over the last 18 months, so ably supported by your loving Jan, may you rest in peace now. You have meant so much to so many people in this world, we will never have the great pleasure of hearing you again in live performance.

Your grateful bassoon playing friend.
